Then cities that are full now will be laid to waste, and the land shall become desolate (utterly abandoned), and you shall know that I am the Lord.” – (Ezekiel 12:20)
A nation does not go into war all at once. It’s just not possible, no matter how ‘sudden’ the various wars around the would have seemed. After all what is war- isn’t it conflict? War is nothing but conflict, and therefore it cannot arise without the primary ingredient for conflict- ENEMIES. War without enemies is impossible- as a stone boiled on the fire remains a stone, so peaceful relations will never spill over into war without first disagreements, then tensions, then conflicts that create the ultimate ingredients for war- vengeance, hatred and ENEMIES.
America, you have made your enemies. Conflict by careful conflict, disagreement by disagreement, humiliation by humiliation- STONE BY STONE. Wherever the hand of appeasement was stretched out towards you for reconciliation, for negotiation, you slapped it away and said ‘We will FIGHT!’ Superior weaponry and popular opinion stood in your corner many times- weapons are your language, and you trust in them. Therefore you are known in the international arena as a fighter, a bomber, an armed solider and drone sender, a convoy-maker, gun and drug dealer, an oil stealer- until ultimately you have become an ENEMY. How many nations hate you the Lord has not shown me, but I know two nations deeply hate you and they are coming for you. When war finds you and your cities are at last empty, let the blame for this rest on no-one but you. The Lord has refined you with fire yet you refuse to repent. He flooded your cities and weakened economic output but you keep doing wrong. Drought is frying your coastlands but here is your staunch reply:
“The bricks have fallen down, but we will rebuild with hewn stones; the sycamores are cut down but we will replace them with cedars.” – (Isaiah 9:10)
In layman’s English: “Whatever has happened to us thus far cannot move us! WE WILL RISE UP BIGGER AND BETTER.” To this, the Lord God replies out of the same chapter (I’ve paraphrased, read the verse for names):
“One enemy will strike you first, and the other right after, they will devour you with an open mouth. Even after all that, I AM STILL NOT FINISHED WITH YOU.” (Isaiah 9:12)
“… for all this, His anger is not turned away, But His hand is stretched out still.”
To the people I teach, advise, counsel, pray for and direct I always say- “Wrestle anyone, antagonise anyone, frustrate and resist anyone, anyone you like- but do not fight, frustrate or resist Jesus Christ. He is the Lord, the maker of all flesh. Do not upset Him, do not ignore His Holy Spirit, or throw His words aside like a cheap coat eaten through by moths. Do not pretend you can’t see His hand waving at you from the roadside seeking your attention, do not make yourself stubbornly deaf as if there is someone who cares about you more than He. When you do this you will by one disobedient act after another make for yourself a Heavenly Enemy- when at last that Enemy arises against you what a bitter and detrimental day that will be… for YOU.”
